About the Achieve Program
Achieve is a comprehensive transition initiative designed for students with Intellectual Disabilities, offering both credit and non-credit courses, personalized advising, engagement in campus activities, community internships, and job placement support. Each participant collaborates with dedicated advisors and career specialists to create and execute a tailored plan aimed at achieving their educational and career aspirations.
Role of the Program Coordinator
The Program Coordinator for Achieve plays a pivotal role in enhancing inclusive higher education and career pathways for students with intellectual disabilities. This position involves overseeing program operations and staff, fostering partnerships with various stakeholders including educational institutions, community organizations, and government entities to facilitate smooth transitions from education to employment. The coordinator will also engage in leadership teams focused on accessibility and accreditation, deliver informative presentations, and contribute to research and development efforts in inclusive education.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Achieve and Transition teams in outreach and training efforts aimed at schools, employers, and community partners regarding inclusive higher education.
- Provide guidance to advisors in developing curricula and assessments that align with best practices.
- Participate in departmental leadership initiatives.
- Collaborate with various departments to address student needs and enhance success rates.
- Establish measurable goals and track progress effectively.
- Supervise the creation of outcome-based advising and curriculum frameworks.
- Implement data collection and reporting mechanisms.
- Directly oversee Achieve advisors and program staff.
- Coordinate with K-12 districts and community partners to expand inclusive educational opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with regulations and grant deliverables.
- Assist in staff recruitment and team development.
- Manage Achieve admissions and referral processes.
- Lead program accreditation efforts and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Work with leadership to prepare and monitor program budgets.
- Represent the college at various meetings and initiatives.
- Engage in professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Maintain a small caseload of students.
- Collaborate with access services to identify necessary accommodations.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Social Science, or a related field.
- Experience in outreach to educational institutions, employers, or community organizations.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in an academic or community setting.
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Experience working with diverse populations in educational or employment contexts.
