Job Summary

UPMC Presbyterian is seeking a skilled MRI Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing high-quality MRI exams and providing exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain clinical competency for all exams and equipment.
  • Identify patients properly using two patient identifiers and utilize universal protocol when performing procedures.
  • Review patient history and assess physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal results in the acquisition of data, including the labeling, preparation, and administration of contrast.
  • Document patient history in electronic records as required.
  • Prior to the start of each exam, read and present all relevant information to the physician based on protocol.
  • Ensure all exams within your area of responsibility are properly coded and tracked through the RIS system, all patient information is updated and documented in Rad Assessment, all exams are properly networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and all charges are adequately entered for the exams performed.
  • Practice and maintain MR safety in the department.
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to interact with patients and coworkers, while displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity, and respect.
  • Able to work as a team member within the department and all other departments to expedite patient care efficiently.
  • Perform procedures for reviewing, processing, and archiving.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate instructions to patients in a clear and concise manner and explain procedures to help alleviate patient fears and solicit cooperation.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology or completion of an accredited CNMT, ARMRIT, or ARDMS program.
  • Must obtain MR registry within 18 months of hire date.
  • CPR or BLS required.
  • ARRT Certificate or Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTC) or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • Act 34.
