Description

As a Senior Internal Auditor, you will be responsible for assessing and analyzing financial and information systems, management processes, and internal controls to ensure the integrity of records and safeguards against fraud and inefficiency. Your role will involve reviewing County operations to evaluate their effectiveness, efficiency, and adherence to established policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct audits in accordance with recognized professional standards, including Governmental Auditing Standards, and adhere to County and Departmental policies.
  • Execute audits and reviews of management operations, internal control frameworks, and accounting records to ensure reliability, adequacy, and compliance with legal standards.
  • Perform internal audit engagements across various County departments.
  • Develop audit programs, either independently or collaboratively, which include:
    • Identifying the necessary type of audit.
    • Choosing the appropriate audit methodology.
    • Outlining the steps to be followed during the audit.
  • Draft audit reports detailing findings for review by the Chief Internal Auditor.
  • Facilitate audit entrance and exit meetings with relevant officials and staff.
  • Conduct special studies and reviews as assigned by the County Auditor and Chief Internal Auditor.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience to grasp the fundamental principles associated with the primary responsibilities of the position, typically one to two years.
Essential Skills
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking to solve challenges.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects concurrently.
  • Effective prioritization and compliance with departmental policies.
  • Familiarity with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards and IIA Standards.
  • Understanding of risk management, risk-based assessments, and internal controls, including the COSO framework.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
