Job Summary:

The Thoracic Surgery APC Lead is a critical member of our team, responsible for providing clinical direction and leadership to our advanced practice clinicians (APCs). This role requires a strong clinical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Acts as a mentor and expert resource to APCs, providing training, orientation, and clinical work direction.
• Participates in recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of employees, as well as staff development and resolution of employee concerns.
• Collaborates with physicians and other staff to ensure high-quality and efficient patient care.
• Develops and maintains orientation plans, work improvement plans, clinical competencies, and practice protocols.
• Coordinates education for APCs related to specialty practice changes and updates.
• Supports excellence in patient care through sharing timely, evidence-based research.

Requirements:

• Physician Assistant license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
• Physician Assistant (PA-C) certification issued by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration issued by the DEA.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months.
• Bachelor's Degree in Physician Assistant.
• Typically requires 5 years of experience in providing and coordinating care for patients with acute, critical, and chronic health conditions as a physician assistant.

Skills and Abilities:

• Demonstrated leadership skills, including delegation, team building, and problem-solving.
• Ability to work independently and as an effective member of a healthcare team.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with physicians and other staff.
• Proven organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively.
• Intermediate computer skills.

Working Conditions:

• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and twist continuously throughout the workday.
• Must have functional speech, vision, touch, and hearing.
• Will be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards, as well as blood and body fluids.
