About the Role

The University of Arizona is seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our team. As a Carpenter, you will be responsible for constructing, repairing, and installing structural woodwork and related materials in our university dorms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Repair and maintain furniture, cabinetry, and other structural elements in dorms.
  • Design, estimate, fabricate, and install solid surface countertops, shower surrounds, and tile repairs.
  • Design, estimate, fabricate, and install cabinetry and similar furnishings, including finish carpentry repair and installation.
  • Repair and install doors and windows, including automatic doors and retrofitting of equipment.
  • Perform rough-in construction and related modifications to interior spaces, adhering to applicable codes.
  • Perform facility inspections, document work requests, and related activities.
  • Operate and maintain related equipment and tools.
  • Lead and supervise the work of assigned staff and students.
  • Maintain carpentry inventory, tools, and equipment.
Requirements
  • Journeyman level position with completion of a high school education or equivalent combination of apprenticeship program, technical training, and/or experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive according to University policies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of a four-year federally approved technical training program in carpentry or six years of carpentry experience.
