Job Description:

The Security Architect will play a key role in developing and implementing security strategies to protect the Commonwealth's information assets. This includes monitoring compliance with vendor and Commonwealth IT security policies and applicable laws, defining procedures for investigating and reporting security incidents, and contributing to the development, testing, and documentation of security procedures.

The Security Architect will work closely with the BEST Compliance Lead to assess compliance with risk and cybersecurity frameworks and standards such as NIST, ISO, COSO, PCI, FERPA, and GLBA. They will also assist in the coordination and completion of information security operations documentation and provide advice to security administrators on normal and exception-based processing of security authorization requests.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of information risk concepts and principles, as well as experience in architecting and implementing cloud-based security solutions. They will also have strong knowledge of security tools and capabilities, such as IDM and SSO, and experience in integrating security tools and 3rd party vendor solutions.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing security strategies to protect the Commonwealth's information assets
  • Monitoring compliance with vendor and Commonwealth IT security policies and applicable laws
  • Defining procedures for investigating and reporting security incidents
  • Contributing to the development, testing, and documentation of security procedures
  • Assessing compliance with risk and cybersecurity frameworks and standards
  • Providing advice to security administrators on normal and exception-based processing of security authorization requests

Preferred qualifications include experience with Software as a Service cloud implementations, security solution design and development, and performing / supporting security audits and compliance validation.

The Security Architect will report to the BEST Security Lead and will work closely with the BEST Compliance Lead and the BEST program's Independent Verification and Validation (IV &V) vendor.
