Job Title: Central Sterile Processing Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Central Sterile Processing Technician to join our team at Cynet Health. As a Central Sterile Processing Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring that all surgical instruments and equipment are properly inventoried, decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, sterilized, stored, distributed, and tracked in a timely and high-quality manner.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsible for ensuring that all surgical instruments and equipment are properly inventoried, decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, sterilized, stored, distributed, and tracked in a timely and high-quality manner.
Work independently with minimal supervision and serve as a resource to the Operating Room and ancillary customers.
Understand and adhere to performance standards, policies, and behaviors.
Attend staff meetings or equivalent to update knowledge related to current department/hospital issues.
Complete annual department/hospital competency requirements through online learning.
Adhere to all policies and procedures, including dress code, code of conduct, customer service, attendance, and submission of annual physical.
Identify and use appropriate methods and solutions to sort, disassemble, decontaminate, disinfect, and sterilize instruments.
Ensure that sterilizers, ultrasonic cleaners, instrument washers/disinfectors, and cart washers are regularly inspected, tested, and well-documented for proper functioning.
Assemble, protect, wrap, containerize/peel pack, and label instruments according to count sheets.
Check instruments for cleanliness and functionality prior to sterilization and properly handle and store sterile supplies, equipment, and instruments.
Select appropriate sterilization methods and follow correct principles of sterilization.
Properly document and verify sterilization chemical, physical, and biological indicators to determine the efficacy of the sterilization process.
Retrieve, disburse, and track medical and surgical supplies and equipment in a quality and timely manner.
Operate and maintain equipment specific to Central Sterile Processing, e.g., low/high temp sterilizers, cart washers, washer/disinfectors, ultrasonic cleaners, and heat sealers, as well as a variety of testing devices.
Understand processes involved in requesting, ordering, receiving, stocking, rotating, delivering, and monitoring the usage of surgical supplies.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area, complete daily assignment duties, and serve as a resource to customers on all Central Sterile Processing functions.
Perform other related job duties as requested by the Coordinator based on department needs.
Track progress and compliance regarding training, staff meetings, and inservice education.
Apply knowledge of current methods of infection control.
Operate and troubleshoot cleaning equipment.
Appropriately handle biohazardous material while maintaining safety standards.
Employees may be exposed to chemicals required for tasks. Any hazardous chemicals that employees may encounter are listed in the hospital's Safety Data Sheet (SDS) database.
Must be able to lift and transport heavy objects weighing 25-50 lbs and stand for extended periods to perform job duties effectively and safely.
Ability to concentrate, organize, prioritize, and execute multiple tasks.
Work requires attention to detail and mental/visual acuity.
Must be flexible and able to adapt to changes in routine.

Primary Population Served: Diverse populations including neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric, and patients with special needs.
