Princeton, New Jersey, United States InsideHigherEd Full time
Position Overview

The Department of Molecular Biology is in search of a dedicated Grants Manager for a significant long-term funding initiative. This role is designed for a fully remote, part-time engagement, primarily focused on managing a 7-Year Grant. Initially, this position will be offered as a 2-year term, with the possibility of annual extensions contingent upon ongoing funding.

The Grants Manager will serve as the principal point of contact for the New Jersey Alliance for Clinical and Translational Science (NJ ACTS) award. A comprehensive application package, including a resume and cover letter, is essential for consideration.

This award is supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) through subawards, facilitating various training opportunities aimed at enhancing collaboration and translational research among multiple academic institutions. While hosted within the Department of Molecular Biology, the funding extends across various departments, necessitating close coordination with personnel from affiliated institutions.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Award Duties:

  • Assist in the preparation and internal submission of NJACTS proposals, collaborating with the Principal Investigator (PI) and the Manager of Research and Administration.
  • Develop budgets, justifications, and administrative components of proposals, ensuring compliance with agency guidelines.
  • Oversee the coordination of NJACTS funding opportunities, including compliance reviews and support for internal applicants.
  • Initiate and manage the setup of annual awards across all funding mechanisms.

Post-Award Duties:

  • Maintain communication with partner institutions and coordinate daily with PIs and administrative staff.
  • Prepare annual progress reports and ensure compliance with NIH requirements.
  • Monitor financial expenditures to ensure adherence to institutional and sponsor guidelines.
  • Facilitate financial reporting and manage closeout processes for awarded grants.
  • Organize and maintain grant documentation for record retention.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Stay informed about university and sponsor policies to ensure compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field is required. Candidates should possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in grants management within a university environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Access, and Word, is essential, along with a solid understanding of accounting principles.

Familiarity with grant application processes and university policies is highly desirable. Experience with financial systems and grant management software will be considered an asset. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining financial integrity and confidentiality.

This position offers the flexibility of being performed entirely remotely.

We are an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to any characteristic protected by law.
