Principal DFT Engineer

At ARM, our Digital Test Engineering team is responsible for implementing and verifying Digital Test and Debug (DFT) solutions for our System-on-Chip (SoC) designs. As a Principal DFT Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and integrating DFT features into our SoC designs, ensuring they meet the required power, performance, area, and functionality standards.
The DFT team collaborates closely with various engineering teams, including RTL, Verification, Physical Implementation, and Test engineering teams, throughout the project lifecycle, from early investigation to tape-out and silicon test/characterization on Automatic Test Equipment (ATE).
Key Responsibilities:As a Principal DFT Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Designing and implementing DFT logic into SoC-style designs at the Register-Transfer Level (RTL) and Synthesis gate level.
- Validating all DFT features and generating ATE-targeted test patterns for silicon characterization.
- Architecting, implementing, and validating innovative DFT techniques to improve test efficiency and effectiveness.
- Collaborating with adjoining design teams on RTL-level insertion, back-end synthesis, place-and-route, and static-timing-analysis teams on DFT gate-level insertion and timing closure.
- Working closely with Test and Debug teams on silicon characterization and validation.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Proven experience in DFT, with a strong understanding of DFT principles and methodologies.
- Proficiency in coding Verilog RTL, TCL, and/or Perl.
- Core DFT skills, including Streaming Scan Network (SSN), Scan compression and insertion, Memory BIST and repair scheme implementation, Logic BIST, JTAG/IJTAG, at-speed test, ATPG, fault simulation, back-annotated gate-level verification, silicon debug, memory, and scan diagnostics.
- Experience with Siemens, Cadence, and/or Synopsys DFT and simulation tools.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree or equivalent experience in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
While not required, the following skills and experience would be beneficial:
- Familiarity with IEEE 1149, 1500, 1687, 1838 standards.
- Experience with SoC-style architectures, including multi-clock domain and low-power design practices.
- Familiarity with ARM CPUs and GPUs.
- Experience with 2.5D and 3D test.
- Proficiency in Unix/Linux environments.
- Innovative and a desire for progress.
- Hard-working and excellent time management skills with an ability to multi-task.
- An upbeat mentality on ambitious projects on the cutting edge of technology.
- Effective communication skills across teams and sites in different geographies and time zones.
As a Principal DFT Engineer at ARM, you can expect a competitive salary range of $230,265.00 to $311,535.00, depending on your experience and qualifications.
