Position Summary

  • The pay range for this position is $20.53/hr. to $32.84/hr. DOQ.
  • To ensure that the finished product meets the customer and in-Process Controls (IPC) as dictated by customer specifications. Verify that packing, labeling, and plant load-out meet all internal and customer requirements. Certify that all customer requirements listed in the production schedule are met.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities

1. Set up pack-out equipment configuration to meet production needs.

2. Operate and monitor finished product pack-out systems and ensure that bag weights are within specification. Pack-out systems may be manual, automatic, or a combination of the two. Manual stacking as needed per customer order.

3. Fills out paperwork such as batch records, plant orders, sample bags, lift truck inspection reports, etc.

4. At the beginning and end of each shift, handle start-up and shut-down duties pertaining to packaging equipment.

5. Stencils products with customer information, repalletizes products and labels, and scans nonconforming products.

6. Keeps work area, warehouse and outside of plant in a neat and orderly condition following GMP guidelines.

7. Load and unload items into packaging machines and store them in the warehouse using a forklift.

8. Employee must follow all applicable company policies and safe practices and perform all duties assigned by supervisor and lead. This description covers the significant duties of the job but may not include additional assignments assigned by supervisor or lead.

Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills
  • Experience in a food or pharmaceutical environment is strongly preferred.
  • Forklift certification and experience are preferred.

Knowledge of:
• Basic understanding of systems, operations, packaging and other facilities operations.
• Basic Record keeping, report preparation, filing methods and records management techniques.
• General office procedures, policies, and practices, as well as basic knowledge of computers and other general office equipment.

Skill in:
• Basic understanding of facility operations and maintenance.
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Using a PC with basic level proficiency in document/file management, word-processing, database management, email usage and Internet browsers.
• Organizing work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines, and following up assignments independently.
• Using tact, discretion, initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines.

Physical Requirements
• While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee is frequently required to walk, talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stand, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; taste or smell; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Frequently required to use close and distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Work is performed frequently in both outdoor and indoor environments. Outdoor environments include exposure to summer and winter temperatures.
• Work environment occasionally involves exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles.
• Work environment occasionally involves exposure to high, precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock and vibration.
• The employee's working conditions are typically moderately loud and occasionally very loud. The employee must be able to work schedules as assigned, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, and must be available for call-out during emergencies, inclement weather, or other critical events.
