GSC is an integral part of the National Science Foundation's United States Antarctic Program, contributing to the Antarctic Support Contract (ASC). We are currently in search of a dedicated Food Clerk to join our team at McMurdo Station.

Position Summary: As a Food Clerk, you will be accountable for the receipt, storage, organization, inventory management, and distribution of food and supplies to our customers. You will maintain accurate Maximo records related to the supplies under your supervision, ensuring optimal customer service and safety in food storage areas.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to the supported department while effectively communicating with customers and management.
  • Perform tasks safely and in accordance with established procedures.
  • Become proficient in the Maximo inventory management system and warehouse operations.
  • Execute assigned tasks as directed by management, either verbally or through a task list.
  • Receive and store all incoming food and materials for the kitchen.
  • Manage 'Freshie' orders received bi-weekly.
  • Coordinate resupply preparations and transportation for South Pole, Field camps, and remote galley operations.
  • Oversee food deliveries and special requests from military and parties.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in kitchen storage areas and delivery docks.
  • Research and issue supplies to customers, accurately documenting all transactions.
  • Conduct inventories and audits of supplies regularly.
  • Prepare weekly reports on deliveries and stock levels.
  • Develop a recommended task list for the upcoming season.
  • Compile the End of Season report detailing kitchen storage activities.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of all cargo upon receipt.
  • Be knowledgeable about hazardous cargo regulations and shipping requirements.
  • Report safety hazards and incidents to the appropriate supervisors.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
  • Support the achievement of ASC metrics and comply with all Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements.
  • Maintain a safe workplace, prioritizing safety in all activities.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Current ServSafe Food Handler certificate required prior to deployment.
  • Valid driver's license and U.S. Passport are necessary.
  • One year of experience in materials administration, including inventory management in a food service environment.
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required.
