Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to lead our Highway Department and drive the successful execution of various transportation initiatives. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in departmental growth and the successful delivery of transportation projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and perform structural design calculations for projects according to the NYCT design manual and other relevant criteria.
  • Utilize software tools such as SAP2000, CSI Bridge, and Open Buildings Designer to construct structural models and conduct analyses.
  • Prepare comprehensive project reports post-design phase, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project standards.
  • Review design calculations and structural models produced by team members to identify and eliminate potential errors.
  • Examine structural drawings to understand existing structures before conducting design checks.
  • Provide regular updates on project status and design progress, participating in weekly and monthly team meetings to discuss resource allocation, project challenges, and lessons learned.
  • Conduct field inspections for design projects to ensure compliance with design specifications and project standards.
  • Lead the preparation of contract plans and documents, including bid documents, ensuring alignment with project requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required.
  • Minimum of 7+ years in the design of roadways, intersections, ADA curb ramps, parking, and pedestrian facilities.
  • PE license in NJ or the ability to obtain within 12 months; PE License in NY is a plus.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and design tools such as INROADS and Civil 3D. Familiarity with AASHTO, NJDOT plans, cost estimates, and specifications is essential.
  • Exposure to procedures and standards from agencies like NJTA, PANYNJ, NYSDOT, or PennDOT is advantageous.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and clients.
