Civil Engineer

As a Civil Engineer at System One, you will lead and manage the design of roadways, intersections, ADA curb ramps, parking facilities, and pedestrian infrastructure. You will ensure designs meet all applicable codes, standards, and regulations, including AASHTO and NJDOT specifications.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the design of roadways, intersections, ADA curb ramps, parking facilities, and pedestrian infrastructure.
Ensure designs meet all applicable codes, standards, and regulations, including AASHTO and NJDOT specifications.
Preparation of Contract Plans and Documents:
Develop comprehensive contract plans and bid documents for various civil engineering projects.
Prepare detailed construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
Project Management:
Oversee and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and on-budget delivery.
Collaborate with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to define project requirements and objectives.
Technical Proficiency:
Utilize AutoCAD, MicroStation, INROADS, and Civil 3D for design and drafting purposes.
Stay current with industry trends and advancements in design software and tools.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure all designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations and standards.
Prepare and review reports, applications, and other documentation required for project approvals.
Quality Assurance:
Conduct thorough reviews of design documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Implement quality control measures throughout the project lifecycle.
Client Interaction and Communication:
Maintain effective communication with clients, providing regular updates and addressing any concerns.
Present project plans and progress to clients and stakeholders clearly and professionally.
Mentorship and Development:
Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and technical staff.
Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Qualifications:
B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering.
Minimum of 7+ years of experience in the design of roadways, intersections, ADA curb ramps, parking, and pedestrian facilities.
PE license in New Jersey or the ability to obtain one within 12 months; PE license in New York is beneficial.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, INROADS, and Civil 3D.
Strong knowledge of AASHTO standards and NJDOT plans, cost estimates, and specifications.
Familiarity with standards and procedures from agencies such as NJTA, PANYNJ, NYSDOT, or PennDOT is advantageous.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently as well as part of a team.
