**Job Summary:**

The City of New York is seeking a skilled Steam Fitter to join its team. As a Steam Fitter, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing piping, controls, and equipment for heating systems, compressed air systems, refrigerating systems, air conditioning systems, steam and hot water systems, fire suppression systems, cooling systems, and sprinkler systems.

About the Role:

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong technical skills and attention to detail. You will work closely with other teams to ensure that building systems are running efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair piping, controls, and equipment for various systems
  • Lay out work from plans, specifications, and sketches
  • Work with welding and brazing equipment
  • Supervise the work of Steam Fitters Helpers

Requirements:

  • Five years of full-time satisfactory experience as a Steam Fitter
  • Not less than two and one-half years of such experience plus sufficient full-time experience as a helper or apprentice or relevant education or training to make up a total of five years of acceptable experience
  • Six months of experience will be credited for each year of apprenticeship or helper experience or for each year of completed approved trade or vocational school training in the steam fitting field
