We are currently seeking a meticulous and reliable Certified Welding Quality Inspector. This role involves conducting inspections on structural steel, carbon steel piping fit-up, and welding processes. Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as a consultant in specialized areas such as structural steel, pipeline, pressure vessel, and reinforcing steel.
  • Providing detailed scopes of work along with cost estimates for prospective projects.
  • Preparing comprehensive steel reports and other documentation as required by clients.
  • Offering technical guidance to CoMET Services.
  • Conducting cost analyses and preparing project invoices promptly after completing fieldwork, laboratory testing, and reporting.
  • Maintaining consistent communication with clients throughout project durations.
  • Building and nurturing client relationships to foster business development.
  • Drafting proposals for potential projects.
  • Alerting management to any potential legal matters involving the group.
  • Collaborating with legal counsel as necessary.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in steel inspection and welding is essential.
  • Certification as a Certified Welding Inspector by the American Welding Society (AWS QC1) is mandatory.
  • A valid driver's license is required, along with meeting the company's auto insurability standards.

Ideal candidates will possess strong organizational skills to effectively utilize company resources. Management capabilities to oversee project teams and assess project progress are essential. Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary for effective collaboration with clients and internal staff. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is expected. Candidates should be self-motivated, maintain a good attendance record, and be capable of working independently. The ability to operate a company vehicle and manage all assigned tasks efficiently and punctually is crucial.

The physical demands of this position include regular standing, walking, and using hands for various tasks. Employees may need to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crawl, and may be required to drive short or long distances. The role may involve lifting or moving items up to 70 pounds occasionally. Vision requirements include close, distance, depth perception, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Employees will frequently work near moving mechanical parts and in high or precarious places. Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, and extreme temperatures may occur. The position may also involve working with toxic or caustic chemicals and the risk of electrical shock. The noise level is typically loud.

Flexibility in working hours is necessary to accommodate client needs.
