Job Title: Asphalt Distributor Operator

Job Summary:

Thompson-Arthur Paving and Construction, a CRH company, is seeking a highly skilled Asphalt Distributor Operator to join our team in Greensboro, North Carolina. As a key member of our paving crew, you will be responsible for operating asphalt distributor trucks and applying liquid asphalt to designated areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate asphalt distributor trucks to apply liquid asphalt to highways, roadways, parking lots, and driveways.
  • Set spray bars on manual, automatic, or semi-automatic distributors for precise application.
  • Perform manual labor as needed, such as shoveling or raking, under extreme temperatures and for extended hours.
  • Follow verbal instructions from crew foremen to assist in other positions if needed.
  • Apply liquid asphalt with attention to detail and emphasis on craftsmanship.
  • Initiative to perform/assist with other positions for job completion.
  • Follow traffic control instructions and practice safety standards per company policy.
  • May oil, grease, service, and make normal operating adjustments to equipment.
  • May perform other related duties such as shoveling, setting string line, and adding or removing screed extensions.
  • Attendance required according to company attendance policy to ensure crew is able to operate at normal efficiency level.
  • Attitude/Cooperation: Must always maintain a courteous and professional manner with co-workers, customers, public.
  • Ability to be flexible with last-minute schedule changes, location changes, time of shift changes. Overtime work required. Out-of-town/county/state work may be required.
  • Ability to adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) policy and maintain individual PPE in a functional condition.
  • Initiative to perform/assist with other positions for job completion.
  • Must pass drug test and criminal background check.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.
  • Commercial Drivers License with hazmat endorsements required.
