Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and repair of electrical systems, including troubleshooting and diagnosing issues
  • Inspection and testing of facilities and equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards
  • Cleaning and repair or replacement of dirty or worn parts
  • Tracing and repairing electrical malfunctions
  • Installing new wiring, equipment, controls, lights, and other electrical components
  • Planning for the most feasible installations and compiling cost estimates
  • Preparing sketches indicating proposed improvements
  • Supervising and directing the work of other workers
Requirements
  • Journeyman level skills and knowledge in electrical systems and maintenance
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
  • Physical stamina to perform tasks that require lifting, bending, and climbing
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Valid Oklahoma State and Oklahoma City Journeyman Wireman's License
  • Valid driver's license (Operator)
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a variety of environments, including indoors and outdoors, and may involve exposure to heat, cold, humidity, rain, and other weather conditions. You will also be required to work near moving machinery and equipment, and may be exposed to loud noises and dust.

Physical Requirements
  • Extent flexibility, mobility, and balance to bend, twist, and reach out when performing activities such as climbing or working from a ladder
  • Arm-hand steadiness, manual dexterity, and finger dexterity to use manual and power tools to perform tasks such as removing panels, covers, etc. to make equipment repairs
  • Near vision to read information media such as blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, code books, equipment labels, etc.
  • Visual color discrimination to perform duties such as checking the installation of color-coded wires
  • Speech and hearing to communicate clearly and distinctly in person, by two-way radio, and by telephone
  • Pulmonary function to use a self-contained breathing apparatus and cartridge respirator (Water Department Only)
  • Maximum body mass, including equipment weighing up to 30 lbs., not to exceed 310 lbs.
