Key Responsibilities:

  • Machine Operation: Responsible for setting up and operating various conventional machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, and grinders, as well as CNC lathes and milling centers to fulfill production demands.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Accurately interpret blueprints and job orders to ascertain product specifications, including dimensions and tolerances, and plan the sequence of operations for optimal outcomes.
  • Tool Setup: Select and secure tools in holders for precise machining, ensuring readiness for production.
  • Workpiece Positioning: Position and secure workpieces in holding devices or fixtures to guarantee accurate machining.
  • Machine Control: Adjust machine controls to ensure precise positioning of tools and workpieces, setting the appropriate feeds, speeds, and depth of cut.
  • CNC Programming: Edit and update CNC programs in collaboration with programmers to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Quality Assurance: Monitor operations and verify that machined workpieces meet established specifications, maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Tool Maintenance: Utilize bench tools for de-burring parts and sharpening tools to ensure optimal performance.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned to support team objectives and production goals.

Qualifications and Required Skills:

  • Education and Experience: An associate's degree or equivalent from a technical school, or six months to one year of related experience, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in setting up and operating both conventional and CNC machine tools.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and job orders.
  • Mechanical Skills: Excellent mechanical aptitude with effective use of machine controls.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional focus on detail and accuracy in verifying machined workpieces.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective teamwork.
