Kaiser Permanente is seeking a highly skilled Anesthesia Technician to join our team in Fontana, California. As a key member of the anesthesia care team, you will assist the anesthesia provider in providing high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities- Assist with the anesthesia plan of care, considering age-related needs and performing patient care activities within the scope of practice.
- Collaborate with the anesthesia provider to ensure seamless patient care, including setup, application, and assistance with anesthesia equipment.
- Respond to emergency situations, such as Code Blue and Code Pink, with the anesthesia care team.
- Prepare and apply patient warming modalities as needed.
- Participate in problem identification and resolution, quality improvement, and staff development initiatives.
- Manage work assignments to ensure completion of patient care activities.
- Assemble anesthesia equipment and supplies, including airway setup and preparation for malignant hyperthermia and latex allergy.
- Utilize sterile technique to set up and assist with placement of invasive monitoring equipment.
- Coordinate patient monitoring equipment availability with PACU and Critical Care units.
- Work with the perioperative team to facilitate prompt room turnover.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including cleaning, sterilization, and decontamination of anesthesia-related items.
- Graduate of an accredited program in Anesthesia Technology with an AS degree or certified by the American Society of Technologists and Technicians (ASATT) as a Technologist.
- IV Certification or a graduate of an accredited Anesthesia Technology Program.
- High School Diploma.
- Basic Life Support certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
- American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians - Technologist certification.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the duties and responsibilities required of a Certified Anesthesia Technologist.
- Ability to lift 45 lbs of equipment from an overhead position on a daily basis.
- Ability to push/pull up to 500 lbs.
- Keyboarding skills and ability to use computer software applications.
- Ability to stand or walk continuously.
- Able to demonstrate knowledge and skill in the use of anesthesia equipment, including proper quality assurance, storage, and troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of Anesthesia department procedures, principles of asepsis, and sterile technique.
- Able to demonstrate manual dexterity and mechanical ability.
- Ability to exercise judgment and work efficiently and competently with minimal supervision.
- Utilizes effective communication strategies, resulting in intended outcomes.
- Certificate of training for Drager, GE, or other anesthesia delivery systems, if not a graduate of a program.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in a Cardiac OR and/or Level 1 trauma center.
- Associate Degree.
