Qualifications
- Associate's degree in engineering or engineering technology with a concentration in Plastics, Manufacturing, or Mechanical disciplines.
- Required training and practical experience in scientific molding.
- Proficient knowledge and hands-on experience with injection molding processes and related equipment.
- Familiarity with a diverse range of thermoplastic materials and their characteristics.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
- Experience in a regulated industry, preferably in medical, with expertise in Validation processes including IQ/OQ/PQ execution.
- Regular use of hands for handling and manipulation, along with reaching with arms and hands.
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to fifteen (15) pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than one hundred (100) pounds with assistance.
Responsibilities
- The Process Engineer will oversee the molding operations for new program implementations, refining and adjusting manufacturing processes while supporting production teams in troubleshooting and enhancing processes.
- This role involves monitoring process efficiency, quantifying outcomes, documenting findings, and presenting reports to management.
- Additionally, this position includes mentoring and training other personnel involved in injection molding.
- Establish optimal process parameters through scientific molding techniques to validate machinery, tools, and products.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to molding processes, materials, or equipment.
- Assess tooling for potential concerns and opportunities for quality and efficiency improvements, recommending enhancements to optimize molding, setup, and overall production.
- Gather and analyze data on specific processes to identify and enhance process capabilities.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation including mold process sheets, validation records, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the molding operations.
- Provide training to process technicians in scientific molding methodologies.
- Lead initiatives for continuous improvement and cost reduction.
- Utilize Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other methodologies to analyze process data for capability assessment and improvement opportunities.
- Program robotic systems and auxiliary equipment.
- Perform additional tasks as necessary to ensure efficient plant operations.
- Offer technical guidance and mentorship to process technicians, operators, and other molding staff.
- Work will be conducted in a clean room environment adhering to ISO 13485 standards.
- Compliance with dress code as per Gowning SOP is required.
