Position Overview

Salary:

Magna-Power Electronics, a leading electronics manufacturer, is in search of a Software Engineer to enhance its innovative team. Recognized for excellence in the workplace, Magna-Power operates on a global scale, catering to diverse applications such as electric vehicle powertrain development, particle accelerators, semiconductor fabrication, advanced energy research, and national defense.

The Software Engineer will play a crucial role in developing and expanding the company's software solutions and infrastructure. The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in customer-facing software and demonstrate a willingness to learn new technologies, as well as adapt our technology stack to meet evolving market demands. Given the intricate nature of our products, there will be ample hands-on training and collaboration with various teams at Magna-Power.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a small, cross-functional team of skilled technologists, promoting best practices through mentoring and code reviews.
  • Design and implement highly interactive graphical user interfaces (GUI).
  • Conduct regular code check-ins in alignment with development objectives.
  • Engage in backend programming that interfaces with products via serial and LAN communications.
  • Develop customer-facing routines for controlling products, upgrading firmware, and modifying persistent tuning variables.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 1 year of intensive experience in Python programming.
  • At least 1 year of experience collaborating with other programmers using version control systems.
  • Familiarity with GUI frameworks (e.g., Qt, Jinja, JavaScript frameworks).
  • Experience with both server-side and front-end technologies.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage code submissions using version control (Git).
  • Strong attention to detail, adherence to best practices, and a focus on design patterns.
  • Knowledge of interfacing with hardware over Ethernet and serial connections.
  • Understanding of MVC design patterns or similar architectures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
