Maintenance Manager Job Description

Johanna Foods is a leading food manufacturer seeking a skilled Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance and repair of all equipment at our state-of-the-art facility in Flemington, New Jersey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all production equipment is maintained and repaired to meet company standards and minimize downtime.
  • Hire, train, and manage maintenance department employees.
  • Assess, develop, and prioritize project scopes; assign personnel accordingly.
  • Solicit and review bids and quotes from vendors; select and manage vendor work.
  • Purchase parts and supplies for the maintenance department.
  • Coordinate with production supervisors to schedule repair and maintenance work.
  • Maintain a minimum spare parts inventory while ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Work closely with the Plant Scheduler to develop and schedule preventative maintenance.
  • May assist in repair and maintenance activities.
  • Develop and manage the department budget.
  • Review and approve time sheets.
  • Write and deliver performance reviews and recommend salary changes.
  • Timely advise on personnel issues with the Plant Manager and Human Resources.
  • Process all injury reports and correct any unsafe work conditions as soon as possible.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area that promotes safety and efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering and 5-7 years of supervisory experience in a similar environment (food manufacturing) managing multi-craft maintenance personnel.
  • Knowledge and experience may be substituted for degree.
  • Basic PC skills with spreadsheet and word-processing software preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and programming repairs required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interface with all levels of employees in the work environment.
  • Individual is detail-oriented and organized; able to manage multiple projects concurrently, set priorities, and follow through.
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work varied shifts, including weekends.
