Position Overview

The role involves the safe execution of welding and mechanical upkeep on a diverse range of machinery, including Haul Trucks, Dozers, Loaders, Blades, Scrapers, and Rubber Tire Dozers utilized in the mining sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and uphold the Mission and Values of Peabody Energy
  • Comply with the Safety Management System
  • Conduct welding and mechanical repairs on substantial mining machinery such as loaders, haul trucks, dozers, graders, scrapers, shovels, draglines, excavators, and drills
  • Operate lubrication and fuel trucks as necessary
  • Perform monthly safety observations
  • Execute additional tasks as required

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, parts catalogs, and maintenance manuals
  • Experience in welding and mechanical repair on heavy mining machinery and vehicles
  • Proficient in operating stick welders, MIG wire feed welders, air arc torches, and plasma cutters
  • Capable of working in various weather conditions
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed
  • Ability to train and mentor others

Educational Background and Experience

A minimum of three years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance within the mining industry or a two-year mechanical or welding degree accompanied by one year of relevant experience.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand or sit for up to four hours during a shift
  • Capable of working from elevated positions and climbing on/off equipment and ladders
  • Must wear required protective equipment
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions and lift weights
  • Willingness to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays

Preferred Education

  • Trade Certificate is preferred
