Job Overview

The Aerospace Quality Inspector is tasked with executing inspection activities on both in-process and finished components, focusing on dimensional and visual assessments. This role involves scrutinizing all relevant documentation associated with the product. Key inspection operations include Final Inspection, Receiving Inspection, Outside Processing, and Assembly. The inspector will also ensure First Article Inspections (FAIs) comply with AS9102 standards for precision and thoroughness. Familiarity with hand tools and measurement techniques is essential, along with proficiency in blueprint interpretation and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Inspections will be conducted at the suppliers' locations, necessitating travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed dimensional and visual inspections of aerospace machined parts.
  • Review and verify supplier's FAIs in accordance with AS9102.
  • Utilize hand measurement tools effectively.
  • Understand the CMM Inspection process (CMM Programming knowledge is not required).
  • Apply knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
  • Interpret blueprints accurately.
  • Perform final and receiving inspections, which encompass dimensional, visual, surface finish, and assembly evaluations.
  • Execute additional tasks as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proven experience in dimensional inspection of aerospace components.
  • Familiarity with AS9102 FAIs.
  • Proficient in using hand measurement tools.
  • Understanding of CMM Inspection processes.
  • Expertise in GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
  • Ability to interpret blueprints effectively.
  • Experience in conducting final and receiving inspections.
  • Proficient in MS Outlook and Excel.
  • Mechanical inspection experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with IPC, J-STD, and Mil-Spec inspection standards is advantageous.

  • Experience in an aerospace manufacturing setting.
  • Hands-on experience with inspection duties, FAIs, GD&T, and blueprint interpretation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
  • Detail-oriented with effective communication skills.
  • Experience with Quality inspection tools and methodologies is a plus.

Working Conditions:

Incumbents are expected to perform tasks efficiently with minimal supervision. Physical activities may include light lifting and prolonged sitting. Vision capabilities must include the ability to read documents and observe surroundings. Typical office conditions apply, with collaboration with the Quality management team and external stakeholders. Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, with potential for extended hours and weekend work as needed.
