The consultant will offer both individual and group support to district staff and school educators, assisting them in integrating effective methodologies into their teaching practices.
Key responsibilities include the delivery of professional development and technical assistance to schools engaged with Savvas for ongoing support and services. The position demands a profound understanding and extensive experience in academia, standards-based educational reform, and the capability to provide high-quality job-embedded professional development and site-specific technical assistance to educational personnel utilizing innovative Savvas resources, technology tools, and research-backed strategies for school improvement.
Essential Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience in a 6-12 educational environment.
- Preference for candidates demonstrating knowledge of Savvas products and experience in effective coaching and training for educators.
- Personal laptop required for job functions.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implementation of Program Components:
- Apply the educational philosophy and structure of the program.
- Facilitate each segment of the instructional day.
- Differentiate teaching methods based on student needs.
- Manage a Savvas curriculum classroom effectively, including technology integration.
- Utilize data and reporting tools to enhance instructional practices.
- Model coaching discussions that assist administrators in providing constructive feedback to teachers.
- Coaching and Support:
- Guide educators in applying the program's philosophy and structure.
- Differentiate support based on the needs of teachers and students.
- Observation and Feedback:
- Monitor classroom practices post-professional development to assess implementation of the Savvas program.
- Provide critical feedback to educators to enhance their instructional practices.
- Offer insights based on observations from Model Lesson/Lesson Study opportunities.
- Data-Driven Decision Making:
- Utilize performance and assignment dashboards within the product.
- Differentiate instruction based on data analysis.
- Support for Administrators:
- Leverage Savvas program tools to identify implementation needs.
- Observe instructional strategies and provide feedback to educators.
- Understand and communicate the program's educational philosophy and structure.
- Coaching for Administrators:
- Provide classroom and instructional coaching.
- Facilitate training sessions to support effective implementation.
- Offer onsite technical assistance.
- Maintain regular communication with school and district leadership.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- B.A. or B.S. degree required; M.A. preferred.
- Experience in conducting workshops and coaching for educators.
- Familiarity with classroom technology integration.
- Experience in differentiated instruction.
- Proven success as a classroom teacher with at least five years of experience in the ELA content area.
- Strong collaboration and team-building abilities.
- Knowledge of standards-based reform, curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
- Ability to strategically plan and coach school leaders and educators.
- Capability to provide instructional support across various content areas using educational technology.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Willingness to travel up to 70%, including air and ground travel.
