CareerStaff Unlimited is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at a skilled nursing facility in Falmouth, ME. As a valued member of our care team, you will play a crucial role in helping patients with medically complex conditions regain their quality of life.

About the Job

This is a 3P-11P shift position with a weekly estimated pay of $2,200. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will be responsible for providing nursing functions as directed by your supervisor, including daily perineal care, catheter care, and turning residents in bed. You will also be responsible for preparing residents for meals and snacks, recording food and fluid intake, and performing after-meal resident care as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Assist residents with daily bath, dressing, grooming, dental care, bowel and bladder functions, preparation for medical tests and exams, ear and eye care, and positioning in and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, etc.
  • Provide nursing functions as directed by supervisor, including daily perineal care, catheter care, turn residents in bed, all bathing, measure and record temperature, pulse, and respiration, weigh and measure residents, perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures, and observe and report the presence of skin breakdowns.
  • Prepare residents for meals and snacks, identify food arrangement, and assist in feeding residents as needed, record food and fluid intake, and perform after-meal resident care as needed.
  • Maintain resident confidentiality, treat residents with kindness, dignity, and respect, know and comply with Resident's Rights rules, and promptly report all resident complaints, accidents, and incidents to supervisor.
  • Utilize nursing knowledge and skills in the safe implementation of basic preventive, therapeutic, and rehabilitative nursing care of assigned patient/family, as evidenced by documentation and observation of positive patient care outcomes.
  • Perform delegated independent nursing functions using established procedures, policies, guidelines, and standards, as observed by the registered nurse.
  • Assist in data collection on the Admission Data Record.
  • Contribute to the development of the patient/significant other plan of care based on the identified patient problems/needs.
  • Carry out physician orders accurately, directly, and indirectly.
  • Assist in the evaluation of the effectiveness of the nursing care administered relative to the patient/significant other identified problems/needs.
  • Document pertinent observations and intervention on appropriate records.
  • Perform selected tasks related to patient care and the patient's environment in a safe manner.
  • Administer medication accurately, observing patient response, as evidenced by documentation in the medical record and lack of negative outcomes.
  • Perform limited I.V. Therapy procedures on those patients receiving peripherally inserted Intravenous fluids, as delegated by and observed by the RN.
  • Maintain and coordinate communication among patient/significant other, staff, and physician, as evidenced within medical record, client, and health care team feedback.
  • Give punctual change of shift report consisting of pertinent and relevant information for assigned patients.
  • Provide patient/significant other health teaching, as delegated by and observed by the RN.
  • Use available written and AV materials specific to patient condition or disease.
  • Utilize appropriate teaching methods, such as one-on-one and group instruction, demonstration, or discussion.
  • Participate in staff development programs and meetings as requested.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a nationally approved Nursing program is required.
  • Maintain current BLS/CPR certification from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross (ARC).
  • Must be currently licensed by the State Board of Nursing.
