Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Consultant I to join our team at the State of North Carolina. As a key member of our Health Service Regulation division, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of individuals receiving services in State licensed and Medicare/Medicaid facilities and agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct licensure and/or certification onsite surveys or in-office review of documentation to ascertain compliance with applicable State Licensure and/or Federal Certification Regulations.
  • Perform on-site standard and/or complaint surveys to ensure compliance with State Licensure and/or Federal Regulations relative to the programs being surveyed.
  • Review Plans of Correction submitted by providers in response to cited deficiencies resulting from on-site surveys.
  • Provide clarification and information to the public, providers, and prospective providers on the licensure and certification process, requirements, and interpretations.
  • Intake complaints and concerns from the public for investigation.
  • Respond to written requests for information to the public, providers, and other agencies.
Requirements
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina.
  • One year of experience in the area of specialization.
  • Strong clinical background, including assessment, care planning, and delivery of care.
  • Skills in communicating effectively (verbally and in writing).
  • Demonstrated ability to compose technical reports using good grammar.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather and analyze data for decision-making.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Nursing experience working in acute care hospitals, critical access hospitals, cardiac rehabilitation centers, end stage renal disease facilities, ambulatory surgery centers, and abortion clinics.
  • Experience using a computer and MS Office applications.
