Job Title: Hearing and Speech Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Hearing and Speech Specialist to join our team at the Kiley Developmental Center in Waukegan, Illinois. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will be responsible for coordinating hearing and speech services, providing direct professional clinical speech pathology and audiology services, and developing and overseeing practicums for graduate students.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate hearing and speech services at the Kiley Developmental Center.
  • Provide direct professional clinical speech pathology and audiology services to an assigned caseload.
  • Develop and oversee practicums for graduate students for internship training and clinical practicums.
  • Serve as designated lead worker.
  • Function as a member of an Interdisciplinary Team.
  • Translate functions/procedures into sign language for individuals who are deaf and/or hard of hearing.
  • Prepare routine and specialized reports.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in speech-language pathology or audiology from an approved program.
  • License to practice speech-language pathology or audiology from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (DFPR).
  • Valid, current Professional Educator License (PEL) with endorsement as a speech-language pathologist (either teaching or non-teaching) issued by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE).
  • Three (3) years of directly related clinical experience in an advanced clinical setting.
  • Ability to communicate in sign language at a colloquial skill level.
Working Conditions:
  • Ability to work after business hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
  • Ability to travel in the performance of job duties.
  • Ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
