Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer - Industrial

Join Kiewit Industrial & Water Engineering as a Senior Mechanical Engineer to contribute to the success of our industrial projects. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, coordinating, and overseeing various mechanical systems for biogas, bulk solids material handling, food and beverage, and other industrial facilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and coordinate mechanical systems, including process piping, conveying systems, dust collection, and compressed air and gas systems.
  • Manage project design calculations and equipment specifications for biogas, bulk solids material handling, food and beverage, and other industrial facilities.
  • Coordinate and communicate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure successful project completion.
  • Provide oversight and coordination of projects, working with design managers and project managers to meet project budgets and schedules.
  • Manage design partners, including construction partners, equipment suppliers, and other engineers and designers assigned to the project or task.
  • Perform detailed technical bid analyses for equipment and generate and check design deliverables such as PFD's, P&ID's, process simulations, datasheets, and vendor shop drawings.
  • Support the construction team, representing the design team on-site, answering RFI's, and providing creative design solutions.
  • Develop schedules, work assignments, and staffing requirements to ensure successful project completion.
  • Perform early project design work, including conceptual studies, process flow diagram development, mass/energy balances, preliminary equipment sizing and selection, and general facility layout/arrangement.
  • Train, mentor, and advise peers and support staff on proper application of industry standards and best practices.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent engineering program from an ABET accredited four-year university.
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of industry-related engineering experience.
  • Experience leading an engineering and design team is preferred.
  • Proficient in basic computing programs, including the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Preferred experience utilizing AFT Fathom or AFT Arrow hydraulic simulation software.
