Job Summary:

As a Certified Anesthesia Technician at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in supporting the Anesthesia team in providing high-quality patient care. This position requires a strong understanding of anesthesia equipment, principles of asepsis, and the ability to work efficiently and competently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assemble and prepare anesthesia equipment and supplies for general and regional anesthesia procedures.
  • Perform daily anesthesia machine checks and leak tests, ensuring equipment is functioning properly.
  • Assist the Anesthesia provider with direct patient care, including insertion of difficult venapuncture, induction, and positioning patients for anesthesia blocks.
  • Manage work assignments to ensure completion of patient care activities, prioritizing tasks to minimize overtime.
  • Collaborate with the Anesthesia team to develop individualized plans of care, utilizing effective communication strategies to achieve intended outcomes.
  • Perform routine checkout and upkeep of anesthesia monitoring equipment, ensuring adequate backup and maintenance.
  • Maintain inventory of disposable and non-disposable equipment, ordering supplies as needed.
  • Participate in evaluation and recommendations for new equipment, working with approved vendors to ensure optimal solutions.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an ASATT-approved program in Anesthesia Technology with an AS degree or a minimum of two years of experience as a Certified Anesthesia Technician.
  • Anesthesia Technician Certificate from the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skill in the use of anesthesia equipment, including troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of Anesthesia department procedures and principles of asepsis.
  • Manual dexterity and mechanical ability to perform tasks requiring lifting, pushing, and pulling.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Basic EKG certificate/course.
  • Certificate of training for Drager or GE Anesthesia systems, or other Anesthesia delivery systems.
  • Valid ACLS Provider Card.
Notes:

This position requires variable start and end times between clinic hours, with rotating weekends and holidays. External hires must pass a background check and drug screen.
