Fiber Optic Splicer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Fiber Optic Splicer to join our team at Montana Internet. As a Fiber Optic Splicer, you will be responsible for installing, testing, and maintaining fiber optic cables and networks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate electronic fusion splicing and testing equipment to complete unidirectional and bidirectional tests.
  • Read and interpret fiber splicing diagrams, prints, specifications, work scopes, and fiber optic color code charts.
  • Perform ring cuts and install fiber closures, terminations, connectors, patch panels, and related materials.
  • Mount FTPs and splicing cabinets, and update maps, polygons, and other related design platform functions in systems like Google Earth and Vetro Fiber Maps.
  • Utilize internal ticketing and work order systems to update customer-side statuses, tasks, etc.
  • Connect wires and cables to terminals and attach/detach various kinds of hardware to wires, cables, buildings, or poles.
  • Perform all work in a right-of-way environment, on enterprise properties, or in and around cell site locations.
  • Deploy and remove traffic control devices that protect the work area while on a street or roadway.
Requirements:
  • At least two years of experience working as a fiber splicing technician or a combination of work experience and training.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record for the last three years.
  • Ability to drive a pick-up and trailer combination and maneuver it safely, including backing it up.
  • Must be able to travel between remote site locations.
  • Ability to perform rope access work.
