FPGA Design Engineer Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced FPGA Design Engineer to join our team at Actalent. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and testing complex digital signal processing systems using FPGAs.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement FPGA-based digital signal processing systems, including baseband signal processing and circuit card assemblies.
  • Develop and test hardware prototypes using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and logic analyzers.
  • Define and coordinate software tasks related to hardware-software interfaces within FPGA-based circuit card assemblies.
  • Manage project timelines and assign tasks to team members as needed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems or Engineering.
  • Proficiency with Xilinx FPGA design flows using ISE and Vivado, with VHDL design entry.
  • Experience with full development cycle of FPGA design, including simulation, synthesis, implementation, and timing closure.
  • Recent Xilinx experience with 7 series devices, preferably Kintex 7.
  • Expertise in FPGA-based real-time DSP implementation, including decimation/interpolation filters, fractional delay filters, and waveform generation.
  • Experience with FPGA hardware interfaces related to RF sampling and waveform generation using A/D and D/A converters.
  • Familiarity with high-speed PCB board layout.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with RF system design, specifically high power and/or high-speed, time-based communication transmissions.
  • Matlab/Simulink modeling of signal processing systems, with ability to convert to FPGA implementation.
  • High-level programming (C) and ability to write simple software applications for FPGA test purposes in Linux environment.
  • Practical understanding of time synchronization standards (e.g. IEEE-1588).
