Job Title: Nursing Lab Supervisor

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nursing Lab Supervisor to join our team at South Suburban College. The successful candidate will be responsible for the organization and maintenance of a simulated nursing laboratory, providing a safe and effective learning environment for students to practice and acquire psychomotor skills.

Responsibilities:

* Assist students in acquiring selected nursing skills by demonstrating the appropriate methods
* Supervise and tutor students during practice performance in the laboratory
* Create a learning environment that enhances students' ability to use conceptual thinking and problem-solving skills
* Work closely with departmental faculty to plan strategies that increase students' ability to meet clinical skill requirements
* Maintain the laboratory, order supplies, keep inventory, and order various anatomical training aids and multimedia supplies
* Provide medical equipment and supplies needed for demonstration of clinical procedures
* Dispose of damaged nursing teaching supplies and equipment
* Maintain records of student attendance and skill performance in a college laboratory
* Maintain clinical compliance for faculty and students
* Establish and maintain a positive contact with students, faculty, adjunct faculty, and other school personnel

Requirements:

* Bachelor of Science in Nursing
* Current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) License, supplemented by a minimum of two year's experience in clinical nursing practices and previous teaching experience
* Computer proficiency is required
* Excellent communication skills, the ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, and the ability to maintain good working relationships with staff
* Self-directed, innovative, and able to assess current operations to develop practical action programs to improve the functioning of the department
* Possess the physical abilities and knowledge to operate a variety of equipment, lift objects, store equipment, and carry supplies to the other campus
* Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills required with the ability to interact effectively with students
* Ability to work well within a culturally diverse environment with the ability to handle situations with tact and diplomacy
* Must successfully pass a criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications:

* CPR instruction certification

Benefits:

* This is a regular full-time support staff position for 37.5 hours a week, 52 weeks per year, classified as Grade XIV on the Support Staff Salary Schedule
* The work hours are: 8:30am-4:30pm
* The annual salary comes with the following employee benefits:
• $15,200 Annual Flexible Health Benefit
• 10 Vacation, 12 Medical and 3 Personal Days Earned within First Year of Employment
• 16 Holidays, 5 Winter break days, 4-Day Summer Workweek
