Position Overview

TRC is in search of a dedicated Senior Engineer to join our expanding Engineering - Remediation Practice in Madison, Wisconsin.

This role is integral to a seasoned team that collaborates closely with Project Managers and technical leads, focusing on the design and execution of environmental remediation initiatives.

Our engineering professionals support the permitting, design, and construction of a wide range of technically demanding projects, primarily serving industrial, utility, and public/private sector clients.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work autonomously or as part of a project team, showcasing excellence in project management, communication, presentation skills, analytical thinking, professional judgment, and team collaboration.

Flexibility for a hybrid work schedule (in-office and remote) is available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and cost estimates, while providing bid assistance.
  • Oversee complex environmental projects from investigation and feasibility studies to construction and post-construction reporting.
  • Utilize technical expertise to ensure project completion from inception to conclusion, with support from project staff.
  • Exhibit the ability to work independently or collaboratively, demonstrating excellence in communication, analytical data interpretation, and team dynamics.
  • Engage in all project phases, including design development, construction management, project oversight, and client interactions.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, clients, and public agencies.
  • Manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously.
  • Assist Project Managers with proposals, budget estimates, schedules, and client relations for large and complex projects.
  • Travel regionally and statewide as required, with travel expectations ranging from 0% to 25% based on project demands.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited institution. An advanced degree is advantageous.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required, with a preference for licensure in Wisconsin.
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in the environmental consulting sector, focusing on environmental projects, including remedial construction, feasibility studies, and permitting.
  • Experience with chemistry and risk assessment is a plus, as is project management experience.
  • OSHA 40 hr. HAZWOPER certification is preferred.
  • Strong team-oriented attitude and the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Exceptional technical writing, communication, and computer skills (proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, etc.).
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency and the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and shifting priorities.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
