Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Assessment Intervention Management. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a critical role in providing academic support and intervention to students with special needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs): Create and implement IEPs for a caseload of students, adapting lessons to meet their unique needs and abilities.
  • Teach Small Groups and One-on-One: Teach small groups and one-on-one to students who are academically at risk in reading and/or math, including students in general education, 504, response-to-intervention, Special Education, and English Language Learners.
  • Assess and Track Student Progress: Assess students' skills to determine their needs and develop teaching plans, track their progress, and update IEPs throughout the school year.
  • Communicate with Parents and Staff: Discuss students' progress with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators, and communicate with students and families on a weekly basis.
  • Implement State Learning Standards and Assessments: Implement state learning standards and assessments to meet ambitious academic expectations, and submit weekly lesson plans.
  • Manage Classroom Behavior: Implement a clear and consistent behavior management system that aligns with campus-wide initiatives, and develop students' character and sense of community in the classroom.
  • Facilitate a Productive Learning Environment: Help shape and develop a school-wide culture that fosters a productive and enthusiastic learning environment for each student.
  • Establish Relationships with Students and Families: Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with students and families based on trust, understanding, and respect for the communities in which they identify.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution.
  • Experience: Experience in a Special Education classroom setting.
  • Licenses or Certifications: Valid Certification in Special Education and content is required.
Working Conditions
  • Maintain Emotional Control: Maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Daily Attendance and Punctuality: Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job.
  • Regular District-wide Travel: Regular District-wide travel to multiple work locations as assigned.
  • Physical Demands: Frequent standing, stooping, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, heavy lifting, and moderate carrying.
