Electrophysiology Nurse Specialist

Job Summary
As a skilled Electrophysiology Nurse Specialist at Prisma Health, you will play a vital role in facilitating electrophysiology procedures through room preparation, patient preparation, and patient monitoring. You will assist physicians with procedures in scrubbing, monitoring, and stimulating roles, providing clinical direction for all aspects of patient care in an acute inpatient setting. Your expertise will foster patient/family-centered care, and you will adhere to all compliance and policy/procedures of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Accomplish monitoring duties for implantable devices and all EP ablations to include complex, understanding the mechanics of arrhythmias and having in-depth knowledge of mapping techniques for ablation and arrhythmias.
- Accomplish scrub duties, practicing sterile techniques, and ensuring tasks are accomplished effectively and accurately, assisting and anticipating the needs of physicians.
- Accomplish circulating duties, preparing procedure rooms using infection control guidelines, ensuring radiation protection techniques are followed, and performing accurate set-up of EP equipment.
- Assist with recovery duties, obtaining hemostasis as needed, safely returning patients to rooms or nursing units after procedures, and checking for pedal pulse and bleeding.
- Order and restock supplies as needed, retrieving supplies from Central Supply and Material Services, comparing case loads and on-hand supplies, and ensuring instruments are cleaned and prepared for Central Supply per department policy and infection control.
- Use the nursing process to gather patient information, formulate a plan of care, implement the plan of care, and evaluate and/or revise the care plan, incorporating patient family learning needs and teaching accordingly.
- Ensure appropriate surveillance of assigned patients, identifying barriers related to specific care issues and seeking assistance as appropriate, thereby maintaining quality and patient safety.
- Maintain professional licensure and take personal accountability for maintaining competency through education and professional activities.
- Successful completion of the PH arrhythmia Competency exam.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree - Nursing
- 2 years of Cardiac Telemetry and 2 years of EP lab experience
Preferred Certifications, Registrations, Licenses
- SC Registered Nurse
Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities
- BLS and ACLS
- Basic Computer Skills
- Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier)
- Data Entry skills
- Patient Equipment
- RCIS or RCES preferred
