Job Summary

Seeking a highly qualified and experienced professional to serve as the Program Chair for Clinical Sciences at Baptist Health Sciences University. The successful candidate will provide leadership and direction for the Department of Clinical Sciences, overseeing the planning, development, and implementation of the College's curriculum.

Responsibilities
  • Provide oversight and direction for the Department of Clinical Sciences faculty and staff in planning, developing, and implementing the College's curriculum.
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of the Department of Clinical Sciences faculty and staff annually or as indicated by policy, reporting evaluations to the Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Education and making recommendations for discipline, promotion, and recognition of faculty.
  • Plan, develop, and manage the Department of Clinical Sciences budget to allow the department to implement educational programs for the COM, ensuring effective and efficient operational functions and procedures consistent with established college policies.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and the willingness to assist the university and college in fulfilling its mission and vision through teaching, academic administrative duties, providing patient care, and community service, as assigned.
  • Participate in professional and clinical services in a clinical setting consistent with training and degree, as assigned by administration.
  • Provide service to the university community and students through serving on COM and department committees, providing leadership, mentorship, and expertise to students, participating in community outreach events, and with professional organizations or groups, as assigned by the Dean.
Requirements, Preferences, and Experience
  • Terminal degree (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine) with current Board Certification in a primary care specialty of Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics.
  • Seven years (7) academic experience as a full-time faculty member at a College of Osteopathic Medicine or seven years (7) experience as a full-time faculty member in a Graduate Medical Education program.
  • Must have an active medical license and be eligible for coverage by the college's malpractice insurer, if applicable.
