Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team at Brown University Health. As a Radiology Technologist, you will be responsible for performing radiology procedures as prescribed by physicians, operating diagnostic radiology and film processing equipment, and preparing procedure room medications and supplies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine diagnostic and fluoroscopic procedures as defined in appropriate procedure manuals.
  • Apply knowledge and skills in performing diagnostic portable procedures.
  • Operate film-processing equipment and patient monitoring equipment.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, verify correct names, check patient history, and verify correct procedures ordered.
  • Explain procedures to patients, provide opportunities for questions, and evaluate patient needs to prevent potential problems or complaints.
  • Provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served, including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
  • Prepare rooms for procedures, ensuring all required equipment is available prior to start of exam.
  • Inform patients and family members of progress and/or delays associated with their procedures, provide documented discharge instructions when appropriate, and administer correct contrast/dose/route to properly identified patients.
  • Clean and disinfect radiographic equipment and maintain room stock in accordance with policy/procedure.
  • Document procedures accurately, timely, and completely in accordance with policy/procedure.
  • Coordinate patient care with other members of the healthcare team, contribute to the team approach, and provide the best possible care and service.
  • Assist in the clinical education of radiology students and complete job competencies annually as required.
Requirements
  • Documented training and experience in radiography.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Current Massachusetts DPH Radiologic Technologist Radiography license.
  • Current ARRT registered certification in Radiography with RT(R) designation.
  • For recent radiologic technology graduates only: ARRT registered certification eligibility in Radiography with RT(R); must obtain registered certification within 12 months of hire and prior to the expiration of temporary Massachusetts DPH Radiologic Technologist Radiography license.
