Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Risk Manager to join our Risk Management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the Company's risk management and insurance framework, bond and surety program, and compliance. This individual will lead, mentor, and build and maintain systems and processes to support and apply various internal controls or other tools in a decision-making context.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage Watsco's risk management framework and insurance programs, including front-facing management, insurance renewal processes, and claims handling.
  • Lead planning and administration of risk and crisis management strategies and programs, including operational risk analyses and research areas of exposure to assess insurance needs.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve operational practices and processes, develop operational risk management reporting and data analysis, and oversee and administer all insurance quotes, binders, policies, and schedules.
  • Review contracts and agreements to ensure insurance adequacy, risk transfer, and indemnity provisions are acceptable and aligned with Company guidelines.
  • Identify and pursue risk mitigation and risk transfer opportunities in collaboration with operational teams, business development, legal, insurance, and procurement.
  • Monitor insurance market dynamics and forecast market trends, providing recommendations to the Director of Risk Management.
  • Provide technical advice on insurance-related matters, loss prevention, and other risk management issues, and coordinate insurance submissions, applications, and agreements.
  • Consolidate claims loss and financial data for multiple plans and analyze the data to build monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for management.
  • Develop and lead all internal risk-related matters, including building risk awareness across the organization, staying apprised of insurance industry trends and strategies, and advising the company on opportunities to adopt or respond.
Requirements
  • Five to seven years of experience in corporate risk management or insurance brokerage, with an insurance company or large brokerage firm.
  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business, Financial, Management, or related field.
  • Proven track record of identifying and mitigating corporate risk, self-motivation, and a strong work ethic, with impeccable attention to detail and exceptional problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn, adapt quickly, and consistently apply critical thinking skills, with a commitment to continuous improvement and self-awareness.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build collaborative partnerships and lead through influence.
  • Strong math and computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Sales Force, Share Point, and BI.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently with minimum supervision in a collaborative environment.
  • Reliable and thorough, with a commitment to accuracy, and the ability to serve as a strategic business partner to meet current and anticipated business objectives.
  • Strong relationship management skills and the ability to interface confidently with associates of all levels and lines of business.
