Controller Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Controller to oversee financial reporting, analysis, and general accounting activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, finance, and budgeting, with excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate financial issues to a non-financial audience.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement financial reporting and analysis processes to ensure timely and accurate financial statements.
  • Analyze financial results, identify budget variances, and implement cost-cutting initiatives to drive business outcomes.
  • Coordinate external audits and serve as the primary internal contact during audit fieldwork.
  • Oversee month and year-end close processes, ensuring compliance with GAAP and general accounting principles.
  • Monitor operational and financial data trends, developing assumptions to inform business decisions.
  • Manage customer credit terms and monitor credit risk exposure.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the business and financial systems, tools, and metrics utilized within the organization.
  • Support the annual budgeting process, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive financial experience, preferably with exposure to manufacturing.
  • CPA certification is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in financial and operations analysis, financial modeling, and budgeting.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles.
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly advanced Excel functions such as pivot tables and formulas.
  • Exposure to ERP or similar business systems is advantageous.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
