Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Atlantis Academy. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality education to students with disabilities, focusing on science subjects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare, and implement instructional processes for students with disabilities in a classroom setting.
  • Deliver instruction, implement curriculum materials, and develop daily lesson plans and classroom schedules that meet the physical, emotional, and educational needs of students.
  • Establish a collaborative environment for students, parents, and administrative personnel.
  • Implement established school-wide and classroom Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) programs, reinforcement systems, behavioral expectations, and consequence guidelines.
  • Record student progress, maintain student files, and prepare reports on students and activities.
  • Provide direct subject-based instruction and/or work in a team environment to collaboratively and/or co-teach curricular subjects.
  • Modify curriculum and assist with differentiated instruction for students.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies and resources to respond to the diverse needs and interests of students.
  • Act as a case manager to special education students.
  • Prepare daily lesson plans and materials for assigned classes.
  • Report incidents to maintain the personal safety of students and adhere to State and Federal law.
  • Maintain the classroom, furniture, and supplies in a neat and orderly condition according to procedure.
  • Keep up-to-date with research-based practices and developments in the subject area.
  • Respond constructively to formal and informal feedback.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in education or a related field.
  • Prior experience working with curriculum development, differentiation, and instruction in a classroom setting.
  • Prior experience working in a special education program setting is preferred.
  • Prior experience working with children with autism and related disabilities is preferred.
  • Solid motivational, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities and new initiatives.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Highly skilled in working with students with diverse needs.
