Responsibilities in this Role:
- Takes on responsibility and accountability for the care of patients treated by Physical Therapist Assistants and Therapy technicians. May be tasked with orienting staff and students and assuming supervisory duties in the absence of the supervisor.
- Evaluates patients' needs; identifies and initiates suitable physical therapy interventions; collaborates effectively with other healthcare team members to uphold standards for professional physical therapy practice and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Monitors and assesses treatment effectiveness, achievement of short and long-term objectives. Suggests modifications to the physician when necessary.
- Conducts thorough assessments on each patient and performs reassessments as per established protocols. Ensures accurate and timely Quality Improvement (QI) scoring. The patient demographic includes adults and geriatrics requiring medical rehabilitation services.
- Capable of evaluating patient discomfort that affects optimal functioning and participation in rehabilitation; implements appropriate interventions to alleviate pain; communicates with physicians for further intervention as needed.
- Develops and updates individualized plans of care for physical therapy.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
- Valid licensure as a Physical Therapist in the relevant state.
- Preferred experience in inpatient rehabilitation settings.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
