The ideal candidate will cultivate a diverse team of Architects, Engineers, Advisors, and Consultants across various offices, engaging with a national and global network of specialists dedicated to delivering innovative and impactful science and technology projects. We expect this individual to be a proficient 'seller-doer', responsible for managing project delivery, securing new business opportunities, fostering client relationships, and enhancing AECOM's portfolio of premier science and technology initiatives. This position will report to the U.S. West Regional Director of Growth and will collaborate closely with Science and Technology Market leaders throughout the organization.

Core Responsibilities:

Design Leadership:

  • Orchestrate a multi-disciplinary design practice, integrating technical, management, business development, and marketing professionals.
  • Inspire and mentor junior and mid-level architectural and engineering personnel, as well as partner and sub-consulting design firms.
  • Demonstrate design creativity and foresight, effectively addressing both routine and complex challenges while establishing objectives and project frameworks.
  • Exhibit a commitment to design excellence, authenticity, and integrity.

Business Development:

  • Lead strategic initiatives and develop successful approaches for securing new projects.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key clients, organizations, and partner firms.
  • Provide thought leadership on significant programs and national initiatives.

Practice Development:

  • Foster a collaborative team environment that encourages innovation and excellence throughout all project phases.
  • Mentor and cultivate the next generation of design and technical professionals within the team.
  • Exhibit strong negotiation skills to navigate critical issues and guide projects to successful conclusions.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Architecture with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience or equivalent education and experience, including 2 years in a leadership role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15 years of experience in a leadership capacity within an Architecture, Engineering, or consulting firm focused on Science + Technology projects.
  • At least 5 years of proven success in business development within the Design and Building sectors.
  • Established relationships with regional Science + Technology clients.
  • Professional Architect License (RA, AIA) or Planner License (AICP).
  • LEED and/or Well accreditation.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with a recognized presence in the local market.
  • Strong vision and work samples that reflect design excellence.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
