About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our Maternal Fetal Medicine team at Hackensack Meridian Health. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of specialized technical tasks in Diagnostic Ultrasound, utilizing high frequency sound waves to assist medical and professional personnel in detecting anatomical abnormalities.
  • Conduct exams according to departmental format, completing the procedure in allotted time.
  • Perform required daily clerical duties, including the use of ASOBGYN reporting system, Epic patient scheduling, and other computer systems as added by Medical Center.
  • Perform portable ultrasound exams when necessary.
  • Assist physicians with biopsy deep abdominal studies and color-flow ultrasound as required.
  • Determine, prepare, and set up medical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
  • Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures and measurements, positioning patients for each anatomical view, and explain procedures.
  • Evaluate technical quality of images, obtain representative images of pathogenic conditions, and process accordingly.
  • Maintain records of ultrasound taken, archiving and de-archiving data as required, and calculate, compile, and record data from numerical readings on patient's charts and related documents.
  • Calibrate, clean, and perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning, clean and sterilize instruments, supplies, and equipment, and stock and replenish supplies as required.
  • Provide technical assistance and instruction to students, new employees, medical residents, and medical students.
  • Identify the needs of the patient population served and modify and deliver care that is specific to those needs.
Requirements
  • Graduate of approved Ultrasound School.
  • 2 years training in Allied Health/College.
  • Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in OB/GYN ultrasound.
  • Knowledge of all ultrasound equipment, their function, and operation of each control.
  • Understanding of equipment and computer systems, as well as procedures for equipment service.
  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology.
  • Knowledge of safety, infection, and disaster policy and procedures, including implementation of patient care in cases of an emergency situation.
  • Ability to cover weekends on a rotation basis (roughly once every six weeks).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Knowledge to aid in invasive fetal procedures with MFM specialist.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1 year of clinical experience in MFM ultrasound.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certification.
Work Environment
  • Regular contact with Medical Center personnel, patients, and visitors.
