Sign Language Interpreter Position

We are seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to join our team in a school setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in American Sign Language and experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide sign language interpretation services for students in a school setting
- Assist in classroom instruction and activities by interpreting spoken language into sign language
- Support students in understanding and participating in classroom discussions and activities
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure effective communication
- Help create an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students with hearing impairments
Requirements:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (national certification preferred)
- Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) of 3.0 or greater required
- Experience working as a sign language interpreter in an educational setting preferred
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
