Job Summary

College of the Canyons is seeking a qualified part-time instructor to teach noncredit anger management and domestic violence courses as part of the Rising Scholars Program. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a dynamic learning environment that values instructor-student interaction and effectively engages with students of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach noncredit anger management and domestic violence courses to students in the Rising Scholars Program
  • Develop and implement curriculum that meets the needs of students and aligns with the program's goals
  • Assess student learning and provide feedback to students
  • Participate in departmental and institutional activities, including committee work and professional development
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement program initiatives
Requirements
  • Master's degree in counseling, psychology, or sociology, or a related field
  • OR Bachelor's degree and two years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught
  • OR Associate degree and six years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught
  • OR Bachelor's degree in health science, health education, biology, nursing, dietetics, or nutrition, or an associate degree in any of those subjects, and four years of professional experience related to the subject of the course taught
  • Experience teaching content related to anger management and domestic violence
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with justice-involved populations
  • Knowledge of curriculum development and instructional design
  • Ability to use technology to enhance teaching and learning
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work on a part-time basis, teaching courses on-site at the Pitchess Detention Center or the Century Regional Detention Facility. The teaching schedule will be Monday through Thursday, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is $54.95 per hour, based on the Adjunct Noncredit Salary Schedule 8 Rate. The College of the Canyons offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as retirement savings options.
