Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial and follow-up inspections of buildings and facilities to identify potential fire hazards and ensure compliance with fire codes and regulations.
  • Respond to and resolve fire code-related complaints and issues.
  • Review and inspect special events permits and perform inspections of special events.
  • Issue orders to comply with fire codes and regulations.
  • Coordinate activities and services with internal personnel and outside agencies.
  • Maintain and update files and inspection records.
  • Assist with community risk reduction programs as needed.
  • Participate in the Fire Investigation Team and serve as an on-call fire investigator.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate's degree in Fire Science, Building Construction, or Plans Examination, or a related field.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • International Code Council (ICC) Fire Inspector I certification.
  • State of Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control Fire Inspector I certification.
  • National Incident Management System (NIMS) certifications 100, 200, 700, and 800.
  • American Heart Association CPR certification.
