The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) is seeking a highly qualified academic leader to serve as the next Chair of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. As a key member of the College of Medicine, the successful candidate will play a critical role in advancing the department's mission and contributing to the university's commitment to excellence in education, research, and clinical care.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, ensuring the advancement of the department's clinical, education, and research endeavors.
  • Collaborate with university and clinical affiliates to expand the department's services and programs, with a focus on high-quality anatomical and clinical pathology services.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive plan to grow the department's research portfolio, including partnerships with clinical partners and the Cancer Research Center.
  • Recruit and retain top faculty and staff, promoting a diverse and inclusive work environment that fosters excellence in teaching, research, and clinical care.
  • Develop and implement a robust quality improvement plan to ensure the department's clinical quality and patient satisfaction.
Requirements
  • MD or equivalent medical degree, with board certification in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology.
  • Eligibility for licensure in Tennessee.
  • Qualifications for appointment at the Associate Professor level or higher at UTHSC.
  • Demonstrated success as a leader in a complex academic environment, with experience in faculty development, research, and clinical care.
