Job Title: Special Education Teacher - Secondary Emotion

Allegheny Intermediate Unit is seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher - Secondary Emotion to join our team at Mon Valley School.

Job Summary:

The Special Education Teacher - Secondary Emotion will be responsible for planning and implementing instructional services for students in special education center-based programs. This role requires a strong understanding of curriculum and the ability to adapt instruction to meet individual student needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and write re-evaluation reports based on assessment results, data collection, and record review.
  • Develop and deliver individualized education plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Evaluate student academic performance, behavior, and social progress through data collection, student work, and observation.
  • Prepare progress reports, report cards, and other mandated paperwork within established timelines.
  • Maintain accurate special education records and data in compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Establish and enforce rules for positive behavior and maintain a learning environment for students.
  • Collaborate with parents, education personnel, and other service providers to develop and implement IEPs.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the curriculum and make adaptations to meet individual student needs.
  • Follow administrative policies and rules governing students.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the building principal or special education supervisor.
Requirements:
  • Valid PA certification in Special Education PK-8 or N-12 required.
  • Experience working with the special education school-age population preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build trust and positive working relationships with multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent collaboration and leadership skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
  • Self-motivator, independent, cooperative, flexible, creative, and responsible.
  • Ability to comply with the AIU Conduct policy.
Additional Requirements:
  • Current Act 114, Act 34, Act 151, and NSOR clearances required prior to hire date.
  • School Personnel Health Record (Form H) must be completed and received by Human Resources prior to hire date.
