Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct geotechnical engineering and geological assessments and calculations.
  • Draft and compile engineering reports and documentation.
  • Execute field investigations, sample collection, geological reconnaissance, and mapping activities.
  • Oversee construction activities on-site and maintain detailed logs and documentation.
  • Perform laboratory testing of geotechnical materials and communicate findings effectively.
  • Engage and collaborate with clients, vendors, and team members across various levels.
  • Assist in marketing initiatives, including the preparation of cost proposals.
  • Adhere to Shannon & Wilson's Quality Assurance protocols.
  • Promote and comply with Health and Safety and Loss Prevention policies.
  • Carry out additional tasks as directed by supervisors.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a Master's or Doctorate in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • 0 to 6 years of relevant experience in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Possession or pursuit of an Engineer-in-Training Certificate.
  • Progressing towards obtaining a Professional Engineering (PE) License.
  • Experience or coursework in areas such as soil mechanics, rock mechanics, slope stability, foundation design, tunneling, seismic design, and retaining structures.
  • Familiarity with field observation in activities like geotechnical exploration logging, pile driving oversight, and earthwork monitoring.

Placement Level

Depending on the applicant's education, experience, and qualifications, an Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineer may be positioned at one of the following levels:

  • Professional I: $67,000 - $75,000
  • Professional II: $70,000 - $85,000
  • Professional III: $80,000 - $95,000
  • Professional IV: $90,000 - $105,000
